I have become a wonderer and a moment capturer, of an inner photographic exploration of the universe. I capture light and its relation to shapes and forms. I search for the infinitely small moment where we can taste beauty and incorporate it once and for all in our private eternity. I search for words that will help me manifest the poetic logos of photography.
Photography, becomes an eternal pursue of the Human Being, a journey to the centers of the soul, a path to transcendence of this virtual world toward the world of poetry. So that we speak of the unspoken. (Photos and text by Tasos Biris)
Fanos or Bonfire, is an ancient custom of Kozani. A singular ceremony that includes singing, dancing, eating and drinking around the "altar" of a purifying fire; all these in a festive atmosphere full of Dionysiac and phallic elements. Fanos succeeded to survive over time, by changing its sheath and keeping the essence since the old passed the torch to the young.
It is a living custom open to all locals and visitors. People revel around the fire, drink, dance and sing. Visitors can listen to historical, love, satirical and other kinds of songs in the local idiom.
Tradition and recording still go on.

An Alber Camus quote from “The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays” about solitude goes like this: “In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion.”
Over the past few years I have noticed a recurring theme in my street photography. I am dragged to urban landscapes, people, moments, gestures in life around me that are full of that sense of solitude. Those moments when it looks as if someone has turned away from the surrounding world, probably in order to understand it, to contemplate, or just to take a breath from the hustle and bustle, to turn towards his or hers inner world.
Solitude is often associated with sadness but for me it’s quite the contrary. I seek for such moments as a proof for our existence.
To be alone, is a natural need. Like breathing, sleeping and eating. To immerse yourself in that feeling of being only you. To enjoy those moments when you just stop, isolate yourself from the world around you… even just for a second. And then everything continues. You keep on going with the flow.
