The city is not a landscape. The city is thousands of landscapes, infinite shapes, and uncountable civilizations.
You can hear her noises, you can count her distances with your breathing, slow or fast…
You trap the light, you limit the darkness and you immobilize time with one simple movement, one click!
And then pictures spring out, track of the route, which they show your past .
They bring it out.
I’m worried about my routes not to have destinations.
Hi, my name is Catalin Strugaru, I am a visual artist and a member of BULB. I do like painting as much as I love photography, and as I’m trying to keep these two as separate as possible, I know, and I feel like I am doing the same thing no matter of what meaning of expression I am using: drawing the life surrounding me in my own, personal way. This week I will present you some of my work that hasn’t been published till now. Some of these photos I chose not to exhibit and some of them might take part in my future projects.
Some are simply illustrative of place, but ex-Yugoslavia and its neighbours can be felt in these landscapes. Can it be felt by the outsider who has never visited? If we remove most human elements, is the human experience still considered?
This is a work in progress, but most things here feel like they'll always be in progress, because absolute truths are so hard to find. The human element is the biggest variable, and it will continue to shape these lands long after our images are lost. (Photos and text by Chris Le Messurier)
