On the day of Epiphany, 6th of January, I found myself in Agios Germanos, a small village close to the borders with FYROM and Albania, in Western Macedonia, Greece. The day was cold but with a bright sun up to the sky. After the Divine Liturgy, I follow the priest and some of the village inhabitats, accompanied by the sacred icons, down to the river, for the blessing of the water. The priest threw the cross into the water and two of the village children dove to grab it. This ritual symbolizes the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the river Jordan.
