This month's photograph (by Sima Aldaghi) met the editors' choice for different reasons. Some saw a "last supper", some "smelt" the omnipresent tobacco and a society in decay.
The truth is that there is no truth in a photograph. A photograph does not, and it is not supposed to, provide any assurance as to the faithfulness of the events. No authenticity statements, no proof of the real experienced facts. And Sima succeeds to transcend the thin line between documentary and expressive photography, "valuing the details around her" as herself says.
The other photographs considered were the following.
