I always dreamt I could travel the world. This dream is becoming more and more real as I spread my travelling area. First time I left Europe for India and then I travelled to Morocco, but the most exotic trip I have ever made was the one I took this year to Chile and Antarctica. I flew first to Chile, in Santiago and then to Punta Arenas. Afterwards, I spent a great deal of time in Antarctica, in Barton Peninsula and King George Island.
But let us start with the beginning. For me it was for the first time I put foot in American land. Chile is a coloured and very friendly country. People, textures and feelings spread by this country are so different from everything I have ever seen and felt so far. It was a pleasure for me taking photos here. The traditions seem well preserved and the beach, where I took most of my pictures, is wild and free.
Not very touristic, as you can observe stray dogs which live here. Though they are stray, people seem to take good care of them. These people know how to smile, they sing and dance on the streets and they exercise in halls.
But my journey does not stop here. These photographs represent just a part of my work. There is a bigger project that continues my photo story in Antarctica. It is a project that I am still working on, it takes time and patience to reveal all its secrets. (by Iris Maria Tusa)
